Integrate Mixed - Criticality Components with Formalized Architectural Patterns
نویسنده
چکیده
Example 1: After major surgery, a patient is allowed to operate an infusion pump with potentially lethal pain killers (patient controlled analgesia (PCA)). When pain is severe, the patient can push a button to get more painrelieving medication, e.g., morphine sulfate. This is an example of a safety critical device operated by an impossible to verify component, the patient. Nevertheless, the PCA system as a whole needs to be certifiably safe in spite of a patient’s unsafe actions.

Incorporating The Notion of Importance into Mixed Criticality Systems
Mixed criticality systems offer the opportunity to integrate system components with different levels of assurance that previously may have been placed on different nodes. While the vast majority of mixed criticality work features a HI and a LO criticality level, LO criticality tasks should not be mistaken for tasks with little value. Such tasks might contain mission critical functionality and a...
متن کاملImproving the Scheduling of Certifiable Mixed-Criticality Sporadic Task Systems
An increasing trend in embedded system design is to integrate components with different levels of criticality into a shared hardware platform for better cost and power efficiency. Such mixed-criticality systems are subject to certifications at different levels of rigorousness, for validating the correctness of different subsystems on various confidence levels. The realtime scheduling of certifi...
متن کاملExtending Mixed Criticality Scheduling
The capability of hardware is constantly developing in capacity, speed and efficiency. This development has sparked industrial and academic interest in how best to utilise the increased capability. It is now possible to integrate many systems that in the past might have existed as different nodes, into the one consolidated architecture. This desire to centralise functionality leads to the poten...
متن کاملWCET and Mixed-Criticality: What does Confidence in WCET Estimations Depend Upon?
Mixed-criticality systems integrate components of different criticality. Different criticality levels require different levels of confidence in the correct behavior of a component. One aspect of correctness is timing. Confidence in worst-case execution time (WCET) estimates depends on the process by which they have been obtained. A somewhat naive view is that static WCET analyses determines saf...
متن کاملA catalog of architectural primitives for modeling architectural patterns
Architectural patterns are a fundamental aspect of the architecting process and subsequently the architectural documentation. Unfortunately, there is only poor support for modeling architectural patterns for two reasons. First, patterns describe recurring design solutions and hence do not directly match the elements in modeling languages. Second, they support an inherent variability in the solu...
